Greece is probably the prettiest destinations in Europe and selecting only a few photos of Greece for the recent photo contest was no easy task, but the Acropolis will not be ignored. Our Greek vacation included Athens, Mykonos, Paros and Santorini and the photo that basically won second devote the contest would have been a photo of the gingerbread.
The magical island of Santorini is right in the middle of the gorgeous, blue Aegean Sea. The Greece of your dreams involves life for this island using the white buildings and streets. Most with the hotels for this island are small but luxurious. For a traditional Greek experience, consider staying at small, family owned hotels. Many of these family run hotels have only a few rooms or suites available.
If you are interested in privacy, consider Astarte Suites. This family run hotel only has nine suites. It is operating out of minimal populated area of the island. Each suite is different. Each suite has Jacuzzis, flat-screen televisions, and king-size beds. Breakfast is served on your private balcony.
Take some.5 mile hike from Fira to Oia. Be sure to take water and wear comfortable shoes. The views with the ocean and the volcano are spectacular.
Check out the ruins of Ancient Thera. This ancient city includes remains from multiple periods including the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine. Once you get to the ancient city, you are able to look down and see the black sand beaches. Kamari Beach is probably the most favored beaches on Santorini.
Enjoy another day at the sea at Red Beach. The beach is named for reddish volcanic sand.
