Greece is probably the prettiest destinations in Europe and choosing just one or two photos of Greece for the recent photo contest was no easy task, though the Acropolis defintely won't be ignored. Our Greek vacation included Athens, Mykonos, Paros and Santorini and the photo that actually won second devote the contest would have been a photo of a gingerbread.
The magical island of Santorini is proper in the heart of the gorgeous, blue Aegean Sea. The Greece you have always wanted involves life for this island using the white buildings and streets. Most with the hotels for this island are small but luxurious. For a traditional Greek experience, consider staying in small, family owned hotels. Many of these family run hotels have only a few rooms or suites available.
If you are searching for privacy, consider Astarte Suites. This family run hotel has only nine suites. It is located in the least populated part of the island. Each suite is unique. Each suite has Jacuzzis, flat-screen televisions, and king-size beds. Breakfast is served on the private balcony.
Take a few.5 mile hike from Fira to Oia. Be sure to take water and wear comfortable shoes. The views with the ocean and the volcano are spectacular.
Check the ruins of Ancient Thera. This ancient city includes remains from multiple periods including the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine. Once you arrive at the ancient city, you can look down and find out the black sand beaches. Kamari Beach is probably the hottest beaches on Santorini.
Enjoy a later date at the sea at Red Beach. The beach is named for reddish volcanic sand.
